KC, The Sunshine Band, 50, and CCCR

In July of 1975, a second album was released. Self-titled after the name of the relatively unknown music group, it went on to stunning success. Hot on heels of their single "Get Down Tonight' (February 1975), KC and The Sunshine Band would go on to many more chart topping hits and albums.

I well remember my instant liking to "Get Down Tonight"  in the spring of that year/ And now, here we are, nearly five full decades down the road! Whoosh! KC and The Sunshine Band have already celebrated their golden anniversary since the founding of the band in 1973.

Half a century out, here I sit at the Cache Creek Casino Resort Event Center seeing the band live for the first time on their 50th Anniversary Tour. The special occasion was my sister Yvette's birthday gift to Georgene (my twin) and I.

Here is a peek of the Event Center venue just a quarter hour before the funk extravaganza was to start.

Though strictly prohibited, when it came to begin the production, audience members were still using their mobile phones to record the concert. My phone was off, however, I later managed to find this following, brief bit of bootleg recording online. On the Instagram social media platform to be precise.

Zooming below into Anthony Powell aka taproompioneer's vertical video, in an effort to tightly frame the stage and fill the horizontal screen, unfortunately came with the loss of image resolution. That's just as well I suppose, as I only wish to give you a glimpse of the lively performance.

The view in this video is from stage right and a few rows farther back than where my sisters and I sat.  As you can see, in the pictured above, we were almost stage center. Serendipitously, I also had the added pleasure of having three seats to the right of me remaining no-shows and thereby empty all performance long! All that elbow room was a sheer delight!

That's the way I like it!
