Lest You Change Your Mind [This post just requires tags.]

From my 2026-09-13 Facebook post (five days before the sock hop)

Just got the coat completing my ensemble for an upcoming sock hop. I almost dressed up.

A little steam pressing and touch of ironing and I'm good to go.

That is, it seems, unless you’ve changed your mind.

Added to my 2026-09-18 Blogger post:

    My ensemble, head to toe:

 Toes:

My corsage (in reality a wrist corsage and boutonnière set).

The thin, clear plastic box pictured in the full length costume shots, was by way of my buying just for the container with the exact size dimensions that I required, a whole other product (in this case, mini Christmas ornaments), then emptying the contents, and carefully removing the label front the front of the plastic box before replacing the emptied contents with the prom flowers.

Back to my 2026-09-18 Facebook post (the day of the sock hop).

All dressed up for the dance, my sister and I.
Funny thing is, I can't dance.
Good thing my sis can.

 and my follow-up comments

Oh by the way, here is the last time I wore a white sport coat or jacket...1958!

😉

My Update:

It turns out that Yvette and I were the most costumed at the event. (I thought, based on the last Motown themed event we attended, this affair was going to be as equally fancy dress). Oh well, it was fun role-playing the parts of a bobby-soxer and a stood-up, prom date.

😉

And lastly, my musical critique:

I guess I'm just a purist, but musically speaking, I do have one major critique: Scott Joplin's 1902 'The Entertainer' by way of Marvin Hamlisch's 1973 adaptation in 'The Sting', Bob Seeger's '1978 'Old Time Rock & Roll', and Stevie Wonder's 1984 'I Just Called to Say I Love You', fit nowhere in the actual, Top 40 timeline of the 1950's and early 1960's. A stickler for authenticity, I wouldn't even accept anything introduced from the 1971 musical 'Grease'. Fortunately, none of its numbers were played.
Oh, and what the heck was Billy Ray Cyrus' 1992 release 'Achy Breaky Heart' doing anywhere in the set?! At least 'Elvira' was first released in 1965 by singer/songwriter Dallas Frazier, just barely making it within the time window, though, at the time, only reaching number 72 on the charts. It wouldn't reach number one until it was covered sixteen years later by The Oak Ridge Boys in 1981. So once again the DJ was shoehorning yet another musical anachronism.
Yeah, yeah, I know, I know... "Purist" my eye! I'm just a pedantic prig!
