Five Years + One Month + One Day + Twelve Hours (backdated)

Today, as I write is actually, Saturday, October 3rd, 2026 and it's almost 10:30 PM PDT.

Today is the day I realized that I forgot four things.

Let's start with the major lapse and work our way down to the minor.

My very first brain fart was my completely missing by thirty one days, the five year anniversary of my having moved here to Fairfield, California to settle in at my sister's residence! This why this backdated post commemorating the event is of course being written in the future!

Ironically enough, the blog commemorating my arrival was also backdated, albeit for obvious reasons, as I had to first unpack everything before I could set up the PC, and go about the business of resuming my posts.

[See the backdated blog for Thursday, September 2, 2021.]

The next lesser slip up occurred at 6:12PM PDT. I had three minutes to go before I had to leave the kitchen table and my sister to go out front of the house to check the sun. At 6:16PM PDT, it was due to set directly centered on the hill almost due west of our house. The sun would touch down right at very summit, the apex, the crown, the peak.

6:18PM PDT: I let out a gasp, startling my sister, I still in my seat checking a possible purchase of work shoes. My sister stares at me dumbfounded by my decision to wait out three minutes without setting an alarm to go off independent of me. I trusted to my own devices but not to my devices!

Forgetting, the seemed the very order of the day, I trusted to my own devices, not once, but twice. You think I'd learn. I work up prematurely only to damn a dream from which I just awkened to near oblivion. When I awoke, almost every detail of the dream was was fresh in my memory. It was about SHE. Goodness, I hadn't dreamt a solid dream about her in months!

But it was 9:48AM PDT, and I had only three hours of sleep at that point, with the wake up alarm yet an hour and twelve minutes away. If I stop to note the highlights of the dream (in four parts) I will lose what sleep is left me. Yet if I return to sleep having taken down not a single jot, I run the risk of losing the dream forever. I go with the gamble, feeling too fatigue to take up the pen...

11:59AM PDT I oversleep by 59 minutes, shooting straight out of a second long involved dream about SHE! However, the shock realization that I have overslept my alarm [having actually responded to it in my twilight consciousness enough to turn off the ringing yet have no awareness whatsoever of having done so]  consigns all but they very start of the 9:48 dream and the tag of the very end of the 11:59AM one to utter extinction.

The bookends, and not even to the same dream is all I have left.
